Friend-a-Thon ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information when you use the Friend-a-Thon app:

• Voice recordings — Audio messages recorded by you or your friends through the app or via iMessage invite links.
• Location/fitness data — Distance and pace data from Apple HealthKit during active runs. This data is used solely to trigger cheers at the correct mile marker and is never stored on our servers.
• Account information — Your name and email address if you create an account.
• Usage data — Basic app usage analytics to help us improve the experience (e.g. crashes, feature usage). No personally identifiable information is included.

How We Use Your Information

• To play friend recordings at the correct mile markers during your run.
• To store your library of recordings securely so you can reuse them across runs.
• To send invite links to friends via iMessage so they can record cheers.
• To improve app performance and fix bugs.

Voice Recordings

Voice recordings submitted by your friends are stored securely and are only accessible to you within the app. We do not share, sell, or use recordings for any purpose other than playback during your runs. You can delete any recording at any time from within the app.

HealthKit & Location Data

Friend-a-Thon requests access to Apple HealthKit to read your distance and workout data. This data is used only in real time to trigger cheers at mile markers. We do not store, transmit, or share any HealthKit data. You can revoke HealthKit access at any time in your iPhone Settings.

Third-Party Services

Friend-a-Thon may use the following third-party services:

• Apple HealthKit — For distance tracking. Governed by Apple's privacy policy.
• Firebase (Google) — For authentication and cloud storage of recordings. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

Data Retention

We retain your recordings and account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data including voice recordings is permanently deleted within 30 days.

Children's Privacy

Friend-a-Thon is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it immediately.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. To do so, contact us at the email below or use the account settings within the app.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
